的 第一阶段 curriculum is a single-pass organ systems model, integrating normal structure 和 function with disease states, diagnostic strategies 和 patient management. Clinical skills are taught in the 医治 课程, which runs throughout 第一阶段.

Patient interviewing skills, physical exam maneuvers, point-of-care ultrasound 和 clinically important topics such as social determinants of health, 患者安全, quality improvement, biases in medicine 和 patient-centered care are introduced in the 医治 课程 和 integrated throughout the curriculum. 的 changes introduced into phase include active learning modalities, with increased use of flipped classroom, 模拟, case-based discussion 和 self-directed learning. 第一阶段期间, the students also can take electives in the humanities, clinical disciplines or research.  

的 第一阶段 curriculum was shortened by approximately six weeks, allowing the 第二阶段 (clerkship) curriculum more time for electives, 独立学习, a new required scholarly project in the fourth year, 和 a capstone 课程. 的 第二阶段 changes are intended to enhance preparation for residency. 

In April 2022, a restructured 第二阶段 of the curriculum was implemented, 和 过渡 课程s were introduced at key points in the educational program: 过渡 to Medical School, 过渡 to 第二阶段, 过渡 to 第三阶段 和 过渡 to Residency. 的se pass/fail 课程s feature curricular content that specifically addresses learning needed for all 课程s within the upcoming phase or in the case of the 过渡 to Residency 课程, needed for day one of residency. 的 过渡 to 第二阶段 课程 prepares students for all upcoming core clinical clerkships, such as the role they will play as members of the care team, how to approach learning in a clinical setting 和 how their performance will be assessed. Students will also learn important skills such as effective use of the electronic health record 和 how to communicate with other members of the health care team. 此外, Intersessions 课程s were introduced before a specific clerkship or set of clerkships 和 are designed to prepare students to successfully engage in learning in the setting of specific clinical disciplines. Students participate in learning sessions focused on discipline-relevant content 和 engage with topics from specific longitudinal threads that are especially relevant in the upcoming core clerkships. This allows students to apply 和 reinforce learning as they encounter opportunities to examine topics such as social determinants of health, 患者安全 和 cultural competency as they participate in the care of patients.  

第二阶段 of the curriculum includes the 过渡 to 第二阶段 当然,四个 Intersession 课程s 和 36 weeks of required core clerkships in 家庭医学; internal medicine; neurology; obstetrics 和 gynecology; pediatrics; psychiatry; as well as 手术, four weeks of scholarly work, a two-week career exploration rotation, 和 two to six weeks of electives.
